The group was led by His Grace Bishop Victor of Baryshivka, who is the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Representation to the International European Organisations (UOC IEO). The young Ukrainians, who represent the folk dance ensemble “Rostok” are currently on a  pilgrimage-tourist  trip around Greece, which was organised by the international charity fund “Sunflower” with the support of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy’s charity fund “Peace be with you.”

At the meeting, Bishop Victor, on behalf of all the participants, addressed the Primate of  the Orthodox Church of Greece  with words of greeting and thanks, and offered fraternal wishes for peace and well-being on behalf of the Primate of  the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude  Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine  , who had given His blessing for the pilgrims to visit Greece. Following this, the children representing the best traditions of Ukrainian culture and creativity, presented a small concert, specially  prepared  for this meeting. In addition to a painting depicting  a Ukrainian village cottage from the XIXth  century, members of the group presented their own personal gifts to His Beatitude. Touched by their attention, His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos thanked the ensemble for their visit, blessed each of them personally and presented the children with souvenir gifts.
Following this, Bishop Victor had a separate audience with the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church, during which he relayed the invitation made by His Beatitude Metropolitan  Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine , that a representative from the Holy Greek Church be sent to  this year’s celebration of the 1030th Anniversary of the Baptism of Ruś. The Bishop also discussed with His Beatitude, the recent communique of the Holy Synod of the UOC regarding information concerning the possibility of “a Tomos of Autocephaly being granted to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine”. The Vladyka also presented His Beatitude with a Synodal translation in Greek of the said document which reflects the official position of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
In response, the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church stated: “We shall study this issue carefully, and since it is quite complicated,  it will therefore take some time to examine.”
